El Dorado Hills brand photography

Meet the lovely Erinn Everhart owner of Every Heart Dreams Counseling in El Dorado Hills.  Erinn is a LMFT therapist. LMFT stands for Licensed Marriage & Family therapist,  a mental health professional specializing in counseling individuals, couples, and families.

When Erinn called me wanting new brand photography for her website, she had a few goals.  One was to take updated images of herself, images that showcased her new office and its surrounding courtyard and also some images with Devin Eastman, a PHD student working under her.

Taking images of the courtyard where Erinn’s new office is located was important to Erinn. I know why Erinn considers her location an asset to her business because our offices are right near each other in the El Dorado Hills business park. We share the same courtyard and it truly is a peaceful setting.  If you need to wait for your appointment or if you need a breather after your appointment- there isn’t a more tranquil  place around.  Also something that is truly unique is the miniature golf area in the courtyard that Erinn could use while working with a child client or parents could use with children while waiting for someone in therapy.

All these different aspects can best be shown using images on a website. Many customers just scroll websites and pass by all the reading- images that tell stories are a modern and powerful way on conveying what you want potential clients to know.

Before we even go further, some of you may be asking, what exactly is Brand Photography and why is it so important?

Brand Photography is a collection of images that showcase a business personal style. Images may be of the owner, employees, clients, work environment and products if there are any.

As our world is becoming more and more visual and you only have a second to catch someone attention, professional photography can help you stand out. These images will help potential customers gain trust in your company and also help you to attract the right customers.

Ok, now that we are all on the same page, let’s get back to it!

Before the photoshoot even happens there needs a be a clear plan created by having a consultation, so on the photoshoot day everyone knows that will be happening. Consultations usually are in person but they can be over the phone too.

During the consultation we will be discussing the following:

  • Your goals for using the images. Website?  Social media?  Print? Business cards? All of the above? This is important as it allows me to know the kinds of composition I should be using.  For example, most clients like vertical images for social media but for their website they may want a horizontal image to create a banner image that goes across the computer screen.

  • We will discuss how you want to “feel” in the images. Confident? Easy going? Friendly? Trustworthy? Once we know this I can use that information to help you convey that through body language.

  • If shooting outside, we will plan where to start and then when,  being sure to take advantage of the best outdoor lighting conditions.

  • If shooting indoors and or with props we will discuss the best place to do the shoot in your work environment. There sometimes there is a need to move some of the decor and it’s great to know that in advance.

  • We will discuss and plan outfits for your shoot. Will there be more than one outfit?  Which outfit is for which location? Do you have branding colors we need to consider so the images do not clash with your website colors? Additionally, will you be photographed next to another employee? What they wear is also important!

This may all seem like a lot but I will be the one guiding the conversation and asking you questions that make it easy!  And the answers might not even be clear right away but after we start brainstorming the plan will fall perfectly into place.  When the photoshoot arrives, outfits will be ready, locations will be chosen, props will be on hand and the only thing left to do is have some fun taking pictures!  A little bit of planning allows for a lot of creativity on photoshoot day!

Interested in group pictures? I love working with groups large or small! My largest company picture had over 100 employees in it!  Check out their recent blog post I made that shows a modern way to do a company picture without even getting the team together? Yes, it involves some photo magic! Check it out here!
