LA fires Fundraiser

Three old stuffed animals snuggling

The Beloved Treasures Fundraiser is a creative fundraiser to support the victims of the recent fires in Los Angeles.

One of my very best friends lost her home to the fires. Hearing her recall the precious items that no amount of money can replace has been heartbreaking. Her own personal beloved treasures that can transport her back in time- all gone.

After the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA and now the LA fires- I think all of us in California can imagine how easily any of our communities could burn down too.

Have you wondered what you would be missing if you lost all your possessions?

Years ago while packing up Jaxson’s items from when he was younger I had the idea of photographing the adorable notes to the Tooth Fairy, his very first pair of Converse and his so well loved stuffed animals. They had so much meaning to me, just the sight of them was like a time machine back to the past. Yet here I was packing them up in a box to save for….the future?

Life got in the way as it does and I never photographed those items. I thought about it again during the Camp Fire in Paradise. The sweet couple who sold us their home in El Dorado Hills moved to Paradise after we moved in. Then less than 2 years later they lost their home and beloved treasures. Devastating. Still, I didn’t act on my idea.

This time I didn’t wait.

After photographing my own beloved items and seeing the images on my walls, I knew I wanted to do this for others.

How it works: in exchange for your donation of $200.00 to a charity of your choice, I will photograph one of your Beloved Treasures in my studio.  The image will be printed on Giclee Paper, matted and framed for you.

You have trusted me with your weddings, family portraits and even your teeny tiny newborn babies, will you now trust me with your most Beloved Treasures?

FAQs:

What is Giclee Paper? From my photo lab: This revolutionary printing process results in ultra-high image resolution and an enhanced color range that’s never been seen before. Featuring 7 dye-based inks and available on premium paper options, you can achieve vibrant color reproduction, boosted clarity and crisp detail.

Why do you photograph these items in your studio? I wanted the images to have an extraordinary amount of detail- showcasing the smallest features, such as the stitches on my childhood doll after it had to have “surgery” when its arm fell off once!

My studio allows me to use controlled lighting and camera settings to capture extraordinary detail, showcasing even the smallest features of your treasured item.  It’s all about the F stop if you know photo talk!

Can I donate to any charity? Yes, as long as it directly helps the victims of the LA fires, such as the Red Cross or World Central Kitchen. All you need to do is show me the receipt of the donation on the day I photograph your item. I will not be taking any money directly.

What if my child won’t part of their beloved treasure? Ohhh I don’t blame them! My studio has a gorgeous courtyard that has a little putting green. You are welcome to wait and play in the courtyard while I take the pictures.  If mini golf is not of interest to your child, you can explore the courtyard or have a snack at the picnic tables!

Will I also receive the digital image? Yes.  You will receive a digital image that can be printed up to 8×10 or shared on social media. This image could also be used for insurance purposes if you ever need it.

What a great gift this could be for yourself or someone in your life!

Old and worn blue converse sneakers

Jaxson’s first pair of Converse low top sneakers. If these sneakers could talk they would have a lot of toddler stories!!

A child's letter to the tooth fairy

A letter to the tooth fairy written when Jackson was in first grade, when children sounded out words instead of using correct spelling and it was absolutely adorable! Our puppy lost a tooth on the same day and Jax wrote a letter including both of them.

1974 Fisher Price Joey doll on a white background

My first doll, a boy doll named Joey created by Fisher-Price. Matthew, the boy next-door and I were inseparable and he had a Joey too! Our Joey’s were always with us! As you can see my Joey had a lot of adventures which led to a surgery on his right arm 🙂
