I had met Maggie years ago when I photographed her sister Mary’s wedding. I was so excited when she called me and said that she wanted us to come and photograph her wedding! Like Greg and me, Maggie and Derek dated for a long time and had to succumb to some of the same jokes Greg and I received from our friends and family! But they are all in love of course!
The wedding day started off in Union Square at the W Hotel.
Maggie’s J.Crew wedding dress was so elegant and classic fit Maggie perfectly! When I arrived in the room to photograph it I notice a little friend on the bed!
Maggie’s initials and the wedding date were sewn into the wedding dress, a family tradition.
Let’s just say guys have it a lot easier when it comes to getting ready on the wedding day!
I love this picture! Maggie and her sister getting all minty fresh before they get dressed.
All the flowers for this wedding were done by Kea Morgan, a talented NYC florist I first came across when she had done the flowers for Maggie’s sister’s wedding. I am obsessed, she always does an incredible job!
Until it comes time for the ties and the bowties, this is where the guys always seem to struggle and goof around!
Maggie’s mother helped her get into her wedding dress.
… and also her sisters!
All the bridesmaids!
Derek hits the NYC streets first on his way to the church.
Carefully a few minutes behind them, Maggie left with the ladies.
Of course it wouldn’t be New York City without some construction going on.
Before Maggie walked down the aisle everyone was treated to some laughter and smiles. Maggie’s nephews, one walking, one being led and one refusing to go, headed down the aisle.
Maggie was escorted by her father down the aisle.
The church in the heart of Union City is so beautiful.
So happy!!
Maggie & Derek say their wedding vows.
Big smiles all around as the priest announced that Derek may now kiss his bride!
Married!
I love watching, waiting AND hoping that at some point the newlyweds will start checking out their new hardware! It’s one of my favorite wedding moments!
The Mr & Mrs!!! I love that Derek gave his dad a high 5 as he walked by!
When Maggie and Derek left the church they passed a boy’s school just letting out for dismissal. The kids were so excited to see the bride and the groom and celebrated them with hoots and hollers…appropriate ones. They must be nice kids!
I love this picture, Maggie & Derek look so happy!
When Maggie told me they wanted to walk through Union Square after they got married I was so excited! I have always loved the hustle and bustle of Union Square. I was even more excited when they told me that they also wanted to play chess!
That’s one cross off the photo bucket list!
Everyone gathered at a bar in Union Square for one celebration drink before they headed off to the reception. Maggie and Derek gave their little friends some hugs before they headed off, giving their their parents a chance to have a great (adult) time at the wedding!
A little bridal party fun on the cobblestone streets right outside the Tribeca Rooftop Terrace.
The Tribeca Rooftop is such an amazing place to have a wedding. I loved the big loft space, the great views and the stairs. The stairs are more than just unique and cool they’re actually quite famous. They once belonged to the historically famous dance club, The Palladium!
Kea did it again, such beautiful placement of flowers and table decor!
Up on the rooftop the guests enjoyed incredible food and cocktails while soaking in the amazing views of the city!
It was then time for the reception to start and what a better entrance than to come down those stairs!
Maggie & Derek had their first dance and then were joined on the dance floor by their friends and family.
The band really knew how to get everyone going! Not only were they great singers but they also came out onto the dance floor to get everyone dancing!
Anytime there’s a balcony or staircase above the dance floor we are so excited as it adds such a great perspective of all the fun!
Maggie’s father welcomed everyone to the wedding.
Maggies’s maid of honor, her sister Emmie not only did she toast but she also sang a song!!!
Last up was Derek’s best man. He did an incredible job of delivering a speech that was both funny and heartfelt, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Maggie danced with her father while Derek danced with one of his mother’s best friends.
Back to the dancing!!
Just to add to the fun, Maggie and Derek even had games in the back!
How cool is that sprinkle cake?
Away from the crowd, Maggie & Derek gathered with just the parents to cut the cake.
I’m not sure exactly what happened here but I know that it looked like fun and that no one got hurt!
Maggie and Derek, thank you for the honor of photographing your wedding! Everyone had such a great time and it was a perfect New York City celebration!
These are perfect I love how you captured so many great moments! Beautiful job as always. Thank you for saying such nice things but really, you make the flowers look so much better on film. You are amazing!
