Greg and I are always so grateful when someone chooses us to document one of the most important days of their lives. There is even a tad bit more gratefulness when we get calls from siblings of past brides and grooms! It’s so exciting to see everyone again and honored that they liked our work enough that we got chosen for the next family wedding!
So when we got the email from Leia and Han (yes these names are fictional, you will see why soon) it started with being grateful and honored and then it was just hands down super EXCITEMENT! We knew Han’s family was amazing from his brother Eric’s wedding and we assumed Leia’s family had to be as amazing as well! After meeting Leia and Han again, now as clients, we quickly saw how easy it was to laugh and exchange stories! It was also a photographer’s dream to see how openly they show their love, affection and comedy for each other with adorable facial expressions! (You will see for yourself further down this post!) Greg was excited for his own reasons… Luke is a huge Star Wars fan like Greg! When we were supposed to be discussing wedding details like flowers and cake the guys were discussing the Millenium Falcon!
We walked away that day knowing that photographing their wedding would be inspiring for us as photographers and also extremely fun!
For the ladies the coverage began at the CV Rich Mansion! What a spectacular place to get married!!Leia’s dress was so stunning- very elegant with a vintage flair, created by Tara Keely. The sash she added and her silver sparkly shoes are a nod to Leia’s creativity that you will see throughout the rest of this day! Sash purchased through Etsy- created by Tati’s Hotties.
The hands of those we love getting us ready to be married. It’s so symbolic and beautiful, I just love the getting ready part of a wedding day!
These adorable clutches for the ladies were from ModDot Textiles on Etsy. DROOL!!!
Meanwhile back at the hotel, boys will be boys, even on their wedding day!Gotta love these personalized mustache mugs made by theresarenee on Etsy. With minutes to go it was time to get down to the serious business of the day! Han’s brother, Eric (our past groom) returns the favor of making sure Han looked just right! And they are off to see each other for a first look… of course Han can turn any opportunity into one for goofing around, clearly one of the reasons why Leia adores him as she likes to have her fun too!Since it was a PERFECT fall day, we took advantage of the warm sun and set Han up in a patch of it to wait for Leia! Here she comes!
Leia you look so amazing and I just love all your adorable expressions!!!!
They kissed and beamed at each other with huge smiles! They twirled! They adored each other. Then kissed some more…All while their family and bridal party oohed and ahhed from inside!!!Portrait time! One of the great features of a First Look, as it allows extra time for taking portraits.
Thank you Leia and Han for being so amazing and natural for my camera! Thank you purple flowers and old fashioned glass panes too! CV Rich Mansion offered so much for taking photographs! You two look so incredible! Look at that dress! One last one!
This uniquely crafted Chuppah with white birch tree branches and perfectly decorated with flowers was done by Cheshire Tree Floral Designs. Then candles alternating with white pumpkins cleverly decorated by the groom with a silver W!!!!
Han looking so happy to see his bride!!! I have said it before and I will say it again, a first look NEVER takes away from seeing your bride walk down the aisle!Such a perfect autumn wedding! The wedding ceremony was performed by Han’s Aunt Pat and Rabbi Emeritus Stephen A. Klein.
Leia and Han’s brothers look on with such happiness on their faces!Spider-Man, I mean Greg, found a way to get an aerial view!See that glance? One of the many things I love about these two!The beautiful bridesmaids, including Han’s little sister, second from the left. The glass is set down and Han perfectly smashes it!Mazel Tov!!! If this picture had an audio clip, could you guess what you might be hearing? The theme song to Star Wars of course!Always follow your bride and groom… because every now and again you get moments like this when they think they are alone!Eventually the rest of the bridal party and the family made their way into the room to congratulate the newlyweds. Big hugs all around… then this beautiful little quiet moment when Leia’s new Mother-In-Law adores her wedding band. Moments like this are why I love my job! This bouquet is as stunning as it is unique! Created by Cheshire Tree Floral Designs.
I loved this escort card table set up! The place cards were made by Piccadilly Station with signage made by Leia using their custom wedding logo created by Bow & Arrow Paper & Design Co.
Leia and Han of course topped the cake! Created by IttyBittyWoodShoppe on Etsy! The delicious cake was made by Lulu Cake Boutique.First dance! The newlyweds were then joined by their family and friends. One of my favorite parts of a speech is the reaction, such a special time to hear the stories of the friendships. And the comedic touches of bringing out a Lightsaber!Han’s little brother Eric then spoke and continued the laughter! We all quickly learned how much Eric admires his big brother Han and used to even sneak out of bed to sit and watch him read when they were little! The dance floor started to heat up and the crowd did not disappoint our love for photographing dancing! And one can always count on Han’s dad to pull out all the stops (bottom right).Oh and the wheelbarrow showed up!It was cake cutting time but suddenly there was an R2D2 grooms cake on the table! I guess that makes the main cake and the BIGGER cake all Leia’s!Hysterical!Dad, Mom then StepDad! So nice!Back to the party! DJ Mike of Extreme Music Productions got the crowd going all night! Some grooms lift their brides a little differently but these ain’t your normal bride and groom!Group HUGGGG!Leia and Han, thank you for having such an amazing wedding full of love, creative details and HAPPINESS! Thank you for choosing us to help you remember it!
I LOVE living through the photos on this blog as if I’ve been to ALL of these beautiful events…and I ESPECIALLY love it when I actually DID go!
S&G, you’ve done it again. You captured Han and Leia’s day so perfectly. I’m always amazed at the detail you include here. You are clearly SO present throughout the whole process for your brides and grooms, and not just taking pictures.
Han and Leia, my wedding gift to you is Susannah & Greg. Your welcome. 😉
