2013- WHAT A YEAR!
Whew, I zigzagged across this country from Santa Cruz’s redwoods, beaches and wineries to the ever so beautiful City Hall of San Francisco to the mountains of Lake Tahoe, our nation’s capitol in D.C., the shores of New Jersey, the countryside of Connecticut, the beaches of Long Island, the quaint and rustic town of Beacon in upstate NY, the classic and beautiful city of Philadelphia and the always amazing New York City where the weddings ranged from a bookstore to a movie studio! I know- major run on sentence! It was a run on kind of year!
Besides the travel and the variety of landscapes the weddings were in, what was amazing about 2013 was the amount of NEW wedding photography experiences I had. Even after doing this since 2005! The West coast weddings brought a whole new set of traditions I had never seen on the East coast! I photographed my first money dance, my first lasso ceremony, a City Hall elopement, a first “touch” rather than a first look and a cool new twist on a first look- a first look with a bride’s father! I loved these new experiences!
What was not new for me was the absolute honor I feel of being invited to document these amazing wedding days filled with traditions new and old, heaps of LOVE and one heck of a celebration!
I’d also like to offer another thank you to all my 2nd photographers that not only gave my clients another perspective but also helped me out throughout the day! An extra BIG thank you to when that second shooter is my husband, Greg! He does so much not only during the wedding day but also throughout the year supporting me living my dream!
Congratulations to all my 2013 couples!!!
So many great moments! I think the first looks were my favorite, and the first touch – super sweet :0).
Liza, thank you! I thought the first touch made for some really cute reactions!
Are you kidding me!? Gorgeous overload over here! I really wish you could have seen my reaction to each of these absolutely beautiful images. I don’t even know these couples but I felt like I did. You really captured such incredible emotions. I seriously teared up at times. The unique viewpoints, compositions, and framing were so creative. The range of venues was incredible. A wedding in a bookstore? So cool! Seriously LOVE this entire collection! Amazing work!
Tenley you are too kind!!! The wedding in the bookstore was like out of a fairy tale, so sweet! Perfect for 2 teachers in love!!!
WOW!!! Seriously!!! These are amazing!!!! I want to sit with you and ask you questions about each event!!! LOVE them all!
Nicky you’re so sweet, Ill tell you the stories if you want to know!!
Wow! Susannah, I have always loved your style but this post was a-mazing! So many beautiful details and more importantly, so many sweet, tender moments. You have an eye for great compositions and a heart for capturing the important moments. I started picking out my favorites in the beginning but about halfway through I couldn’t even keep track anymore, there were so many.
Thank you Fizzah for your enthusiasm and kind words!!!
So many great moments! It’s fun to see all the different places weddings take you, so many great locations to make interesting portraits as well. 2013 looks like it was great!
It sounds (and looks) like you had such an adventurous year, Susannah!
Ok, it’s official. If we ever get re-married, you are our photographer! These are breathtaking!
