Three Generations Prepare the Traditional Gefilte Fish for Passover

It is such a privilege to be allowed into people’s personal lives as your job. I felt extra privileged with this job as I was documenting a family’s religious tradition, the making of the Gefilte fish for Passover.Santa Cruz Family Photography- Susannah Gill_0067

I am sure many families that are Jewish prepare the Gefilte Fish for Passover every year, but what was extra special about this situation is that the fish was being prepared by GG, a 101 year young whipper snapper! GG has been preparing the fish every year since she was a little girl with her mother, and now she is preparing it with her daughter, her granddaughter and her two great grandsons!Santa Cruz Family Photography- Susannah Gill_0068Every year special cookware just for Passover is brought out and used. It was a great honor to be there!

If you and your family have something special you would love to have documented and preserved for generations to come, I’d be honored to help and  join you with my camera!
